#Dawnturns40likewoahtour

This blog has been chomping away in my brain.  I've debated back and forth about posting it, but I've decided that I want to chronicle my experiences this year.  The last year in my 30's.  If anyone reads it, then great.  If not, oh well.  What?  I'm not being sarcastic or whatever, I'm just stating facts.  I would love to have readers and a following, but I'm just not that good at keeping up with these things, nor am I that interesting.  Posting this is a way to post for all of posterity for my children and possibly grandchildren to see.  Wow, I'm not even 40 and I'm talking about grandchildren.  That needs to stop.  LOL!

So, 2018 began with me in RN school.  I've worked as a LPN for 10 years and decided to go back and get my RN.  I turned 30 and became a LPN, at 40 I'll become a RN.  Nothing dramatical about that huh?  January found me in critical care and psych.  I pushed through both of those classes all while working a full time job, juggling a home, taking care of hubs and kids and dogs, and somehow it all worked out.  I began feeling an itch in January that there were so many things I never got to do when I was younger and thought this: "Hey, I work, I pay my bills, and if I want to go out and have some fun, why not?"  So, I started investigating things to do.  I think I've done plenty so far, but I still have about 4 1/2 months left in the year.

My fun started in April when the band Bush came to Lynchburg, VA.  I was shocked, shook, bedazzled, confuzzled, etc.  Bush.  Coming to Lynchburg?  This was so perfect!  I bought tickets for myself and my hubs to go and was counting down the days.  The day before the show, I get a tweet through on my phone (of course my notifications were on for the band, DUH!) and it shows Gavin Rossdale walking around downtown Lynchburg!  I looked at my hubs and kids and was like, "See ya!"  They understood because they knew that they were encountering the 17 year old Dawn that was excited about her favorite band being in town.  I go downtown with no luck, I stayed down there for hours.  Saw the hotel they were staying in, but I wasn't going in there.  Yes, I may have stalked them downtown but I wasn't going to invade their privacy.  So, the day of the show, I get all gussied up and me and hubs enjoy a night out together.  Which, those are rare.  The show did not disappoint.  I came very close to touching Gavin, but didn't.  Oh well.  But, that show took me back 21 years to 1997 when Bush toured with No Doubt and Goo Goo Dolls and I saw them in Roanoke, VA.  It was so awesome!  They have such a solid sound.  Hubs even enjoyed the show.  He's more of an 80's rock fan, but he pushed through for me.
May found me celebrating my co-workers at the Mental Health Appreciation Banquet.  None of our staff won any awards, but they were certainly nominated.  I have worked with a lot of these people for 5 or more years of the 10 years I have worked in Addictions and Recovery.  I can honestly say that we all put forth so much work and effort into each of our patients and I'm grateful to have them in my life.

May also brought Memorial Day, which meant my Marine had a 4 day weekend and got to come home.  He mostly spent it with his girlfriend because I work weekends, but at least I did get to see him and love on him.  I don't think he knows just how proud of him I am.  And I can't believe I am the mother of a 20 year old Marine, dang I still look good!  LOL!
Ok, the blogging on this one stops here.  It's getting too long and I know that even I wouldn't read all this crap.  So, if you're reading, thank you.  Hope you enjoy and I will update on the rest of my year.  It's been busy!
